Cayman Airways to Roatan Honduras

The Roatan International Airport, Juan Manuel Galvez, (RTB) continues to expand its boarders, reaching new destinations. Cayman Airways recently announced direct flights to this beautiful Paradise, per an article from the Cayman Compass (view link below). These started mid March 2017 with twice weekly none-stop trips between Cayman Islands and Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras.

Inbound flights from Cayman to Roatan will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays departing at 6:50 p.m. and arriving in Roatan at 7 p.m. And return flights are on Fridays and Sundays, departing Roatan at 8:00 a.m. and arriving in Cayman Islands at 10:10 a.m.

Originally, flights were only between Caymans and La Ceiba Honduras. But now, this will make it easier for the Islanders which are mostly English Speaking (those that are originally from here) to travel back and forth, as this is known to be one of their favorites destinations. Also because the Bay Islands of Honduras and the Cayman Islands have lots of family ties due to their British background and constant migration.

However, not only will it serve our locals, but also vacationers looking to expand their Caribbean holidays, by visiting our beautiful Island first, and then continuing-on to Caymans, or vise-versa, making it easy and hassle-free for the transfer. Travelers will also be able to take advantage of a few connection options. As per the Cayman Compass and I quote “He [referring to the Cayman Airways President and CEO Fabian Whorms] said passengers could also avail of same-day connections between Roatan and New York, Miami, and Tampa. There are also connecting flight options between Roatan and Cayman Airways’ other regional markets, Kingston and Havana.”

Furthermore, our Local Officials estimate an increase in our tourism market by cutting out the middle man, since visitors will no longer have to book additional travel arrangement from Continental Honduras to our islands.

As an Islander myself, with quite a few family relatives in the Caymans, and on behalf of all us, we thank you Cayman Airways for making it so much easier and bridging even further the gap between our families.
